Flood Advisory issued May 14 at 8:29PM EDT until May 14 at 11:30PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Virginia, including the following counties and independent cities, in central Virginia, Amelia, Chesterfield and City of Colonial Heights. In east central Virginia, Charles City. In south central Virginia, City of Hopewell, City of Petersburg, Dinwiddie, Nottoway and Prince George. In southeast Virginia, James City, Surry and Sussex. * WHEN...Until 1130 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 829 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
