Flood Watch issued May 12 at 11:14PM CDT until May 13 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following areas, Brazos, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker. * WHEN...Through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected to impact the area tomorrow. Portions of the area have received 2-4" of rainfall, and an additional 1-3" with some locally higher totals is possible through Monday. With soils already saturated from the multiple previous heavy rainfall events that have recently impacted the area, Flash Flood Guidance remains relatively low. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Flood Warning issued May 12 at 9:17PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Texas... Trinity River at Riverside affecting Walker, San Jacinto, Trinity and Polk Counties. For the Trinity River...including Crockett, Riverside, Goodrich, Liberty, Moss Bluff...Major flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Trinity River at Riverside. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 138.0 feet, Moderate lowland flooding continues with water 3 to 4 feet below the State Highway 19 Bridge and Plantation Drive near FM 230 is inundated. FM 2978 is flooded and impassable. Up to one foot of water is flowing over Thomas Lake Road which remains impassable. Several roads into the Green Rich Shores and Deep River Plantation subdivisions are covered with up to one foot of water and homes in Deep River Plantation are threatened. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 137.6 feet. - Bankfull stage is 133.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 PM CDT Sunday was 137.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to remain steady above flood stage at 137.6 feet. - Flood stage is 133.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 138.1 feet on 06/06/2015. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
