Flood Watch issued May 12 at 4:19PM CDT until May 13 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following areas, Brazos, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity and Walker. * WHEN...Through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue into tonight. Radar estimated rain totals so far has been 1 to 3" within the watch area with isolated higher amounts in northern Houston County to 4". An additional 1-3" inches is possible through tonight as the showers and storms persist. Area soils are already saturated due to previous heavy rain events with 1 and 3 hour Flash Flood Guidance around 2 to 3 inches, so the additional heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding. There will be a lull in the precipitation late tonight into Monday morning, but additional showers and storms are likely Monday afternoon.
