Flood Watch issued July 9 at 5:20PM EDT until July 10 at 12:00AM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Pennsylvania, including the following areas, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Philadelphia and Western Chester. * WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop through this evening, capable of producing heavy downpours. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour, possibly as high as 3 inches per hour, are likely and short term training could result in flooding over southeast Pennsylvania. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Flash Flood Warning issued July 9 at 4:47PM EDT until July 9 at 7:45PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ At 447 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... West Chester, Westtown, Downingtown, Kennett Square, Oxford, West Grove, Marshallton, Cochranville, Elam, Homeville, Concordville and Cheyney. Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
