HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Sanford, Pittsboro, Lillington, Carthage, Wake Forest, Garner, and Fuquay-Varina. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 273 and 327. Interstate 440 between Mile Markers 1 and 16. Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 0 and 24. US 1 between Mile Markers 69 and 101. the Durham Freeway between Mile Markers 2 and 6. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This thunderstorm is producing an excessive amount of deadly cloud to ground lightning. Seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows. If you cannot seek shelter indoors, an enclosed vehicle can provide safe shelter. Deadly lightning strikes can occur well ahead of an approaching storm, prior to the arrival of rain and wind.
