Heat Advisory issued July 4 at 11:46AM CDT until July 4 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN * WHAT...Heat index values up to 107. * WHERE...Calhoun, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee MS, Monroe, Pontotoc, Union, and Yalobusha Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Flood Advisory issued July 4 at 5:28PM CDT until July 4 at 7:30PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of North Mississippi, including the following counties, Calhoun, Lafayette, Panola, Pontotoc, Tallahatchie, Union and Yalobusha. * WHEN...Until 730 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 528 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Oxford, New Albany, Water Valley, Holly Springs National Forest, George Payne State Park, Ecru, Pope, Paris, Tula, Springdale, Denmark, Banner, Burgess, Cambridge, Velma, Harmontown, Pinedale, Randolph, Etta and Enid. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
