Given the extremely dry fuels and hot temperatures in the upper 80s and 90s, near critical fire weather conditions are expected for parts of northwest Minnesota, particularly in forested areas. Extreme Heat Warning issued July 14 at 6:29AM CDT until July 14 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Grand Forks ND * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 100. * WHERE...In Minnesota, South Beltrami, East Polk, North Clearwater, and West Polk Counties. In North Dakota, Grand Forks, Griggs, Steele, and Traill Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
