Air Quality Alert issued July 16 at 6:18AM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Alert for Fine Particulates, until midnight EDT tonight. An Air Quality Alert day means that Fine Particulates concentrations within the region may approach or exceed levels that are Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. Air is unhealthy for sensitive children and adults, such as those with asthma, lung or heart disease, and older adults. Sensitive children and adults should limit prolonged outdoor activity. Marine Weather Statement issued July 16 at 6:04PM EDT by NWS Boston/Norton MA The areas affected include... Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary... Massachusetts Bay and Ipswich Bay... Ocean Waters from the Merrimack River to Plymouth from 40 to 60 NM... At 603 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located near Sandy Bay, moving southeast at 20 knots. Locations impacted include... Eastern Point Ma, Jeffreys Ledge Buoy 44098, The Coastal Waters East Of Cape Ann, Sandy Bay, Ipswich Bay, and Thatcher Island. Expect gusty winds to around 30 knots...briefly rough seas and lightning strikes. Consider heading for safe harbor until this storm passes. This a strong thunderstorm will produce winds to around 30 knots... and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A Special Marine Warning may be issued when this storm reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before the storm arrives.
