Flood Watch issued June 25 at 3:16PM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Barton, Ellsworth, Lincoln, Marion, McPherson, Rice, Russell and Saline. In east central Kansas, Chase. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional storms are expected to develop over southern Kansas late this afternoon and evening. These storms will produce high rainfall rates that may lead to flooding. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Neosho River near Parsons affecting Labette and Neosho Counties. Neosho River at Oswego affecting Labette and Cherokee Counties. Neosho River near Erie affecting Neosho County. Neosho River near Chanute affecting Neosho and Allen Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neosho River at Oswego. * WHEN...From late Friday night to late Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 19.5 feet, Xavier Road leading north from the river gage begins to see water near the road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 8.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Saturday morning to a crest of 20.0 feet Saturday evening. It will then fall below flood stage late Sunday evening. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
