Flood Warning issued June 21 at 2:25PM CDT until June 21 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Street flooding, county road flooding, and small stream flooding caused by last night's heavy rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Kansas, including the following counties, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 900 PM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 225 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate between 3 and 6 inches of rain occurred last night across the warned area. This is causing flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, city streets, and other low-lying and flood- prone locations. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Derby, Arkansas City, Winfield, Haysville, Wellington, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Kingman, Clearwater, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Harper, Conway Springs, Oxford, Garden Plain, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Burden. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Arkansas River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...Until early Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Preperations are made to close West 166 Highway. Stop-logs are installed on West Madison Avenue at the levee. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:00 PM CDT Sunday the stage was 13.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.2 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Wednesday afternoon. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
