For the Heat Advisory on Independence Day, peak afternoon heat index values up to around 105 degrees are anticipated. * WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Friday. For the Heat Advisory, from 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Friday to 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Saturday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during prolonged duration extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight lows will only fall into the mid 70s, providing little relief during this prolonged, extended duration of dangerously high heat and humidity. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside this holiday weekend. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Flood Warning issued July 2 at 9:14AM CDT until July 8 at 2:30AM CDT by NWS Paducah KY ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana... Patoka River near Princeton. .Major flooding is occurring on the Pakota River near Princeton. The forecast crest is still 23.8 feet. This would be a bit higher than the crest observed in April, 2025, and about a foot less than the flood of record, which occurred in May, 2011. Major flood impacts are forecast to continue until this weekend, when water levels will begin to fall. For the Patoka River...including Princeton...Major flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Patoka River near Princeton. * WHEN...Until early Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Flooding affects mainly farmland. Seasonal camping trailers closest to the river become inundated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:45 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 23.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:45 AM CDT Thursday was 23.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 23.8 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage Tuesday evening. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 24.0 feet on 03/16/2006. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
