Flood Watch issued May 26 at 6:46PM CDT until May 27 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS St Louis MO * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Bond IL, Clinton IL, Fayette IL, Madison IL, Marion IL, Monroe IL, Randolph IL, Saint Clair IL and Washington IL and Missouri, including the following areas, Crawford MO, Iron MO, Jefferson MO, Madison MO, Reynolds MO, Saint Francois MO, Sainte Genevieve MO and Washington MO. * WHEN...Until 1 AM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Another round of thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall through this evening, with between 2 and 5 inches possible. This threat will be heightened for some locations due to the heavy rainfall that has fallen since Friday afternoon. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast precipitation for the next 24 hours. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Mississippi River at Chester. * WHEN...From late Monday night to Sunday, June 02. * IMPACTS...At 28.0 feet, Unleveed islands near Chester and the prison farm floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:30 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 24.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early Tuesday morning to a crest of 27.6 feet early Wednesday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Friday evening. - Flood stage is 27.0 feet. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
