Rip Current Statement issued July 13 at 3:33AM EDT until July 14 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...Walton, Bay, Gulf, and Franklin County Beaches. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Coastal waters from Suwannee River to Keaton Beach out 20 NM... Waters from Suwannee River to Apalachicola FL from 20 to 60 NM... * Until 1230 PM EDT. * At 934 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from 22 nm east of Marker 24 Barge to 7 nm north of Buckeye Reef to 7 nm northwest of K Tower to near O Tower, moving east at 20 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels...and create suddenly higher waves. Make sure all on board are in a secure location and wearing life jackets. Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots...suddenly higher waves...frequent lightning...and heavy downpours. Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. * Locations impacted include... Buckeye Reef, O Tower, St George Island, K Tower, Marker 24 Barge, and Apalachicola. Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected.
