yellow warning - air quality - in effect Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. Wildfire smoke from northern Alberta continues to drift westward into northeastern British Columbia, affecting the Fort Nelson area. Elevated PM2.5 concentrations persist across the region and may remain elevated as smoke continues to be transported into the area. Also, smoke from Alberta continues to drift westward into southeastern British Columbia, affecting the East Columbia and Elk Valley area. PM2.5 concentrations remain elevated due to ongoing cross-border smoke transport. Air quality is expected to improve gradually as smoke disperses. However, elevated particulate levels may persist for some time before returning to normal. During a wildfire, smoke conditions can change quickly over short distances and can vary considerably hour-by-hour. Monitor the situation for any wildfires near your area at https://www.emergencyinfobc.gov.bc.ca/ Follow all emergency announcements relevant to your location. The next update will be available on July 01, 2026. ### Visit http://www.airhealth.ca for information on how to reduce your health risk and your personal contribution to pollution levels, as well as for current and forecast AQHI values. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
