In open terrain, if lightning strikes nearby, assume a crouched position (with your feet together) with as little of your body as possible touching the ground (do not lie down flat). Avoid bodies of water, exposed areas (mountain ridges and peaks, trees, towers) and open terrain (e.g. clearings, fields) due to the risk of lightning strikes. - Possible impacts: Landslides on steep slopes, sudden flash floods in streams, flooding. Hail damage. Breaking off of branches, toppling of individual trees.
