VERY HEAVY SURF which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is possible along coastal parts of NSW coast between Point Danger and Wooli during Friday. The conditions may persist during Saturday, before easing overnight, depending on the strength and movement of the low pressure system. A Hazardous Surf Warning is also current for the NSW coast. Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas. Locations which may be affected include south-facing coasts and beaches around Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Ballina, Evans Head, Yamba and Brooms Head. Coastal Hazard Warning for DAMAGING SURF Issued at 12:57 pm Thursday, 26 September 2024. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST Thursday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
